The Chaplain’s Residence in Voss Becomes – The House of Enlightenment in Voss
“I had never heard of the Norwegian State Church Endowment, but I love everything that has to do with enlightenment, so the name sounded good to me,” she says.
“We want to open the house up for various activities that are in keeping with the idea of a house for public education. A place to learn, experience and share. And this house, with its location, size and interior layout, is particularly well suited for lectures, courses, conversations, mini-festivals and intimate concerts.”
Mayor and cultural director delighted
“We have wanted to establish and organise The House of Enlightenment in Voss, a house that, in the best spirit of public education, makes people both wiser and more inspired,” says Linda Eide. Both the mayor and the cultural director applauded the plans, and the right people have joined in. “And in Voss, that means more or less absolutely everyone,” says Linda. A house more than a hundred years old needed a complete renovation and upgrade, and people have turned up, torn things down and carried things out. We have felt an enormous positivity from people who are happy that the house will now remain standing and be opened to the public.
The goal is that this will eventually become the house where entertaining public education and lively communication come together as a greater whole, to the delight of as many people as possible!
