Forests and outlying land

Allstad is a major forest owner. The forest properties are, or have been, former vicarages owned by Allstad. The aim is to manage the forest resources so that they provide secure, long-term returns.

Important to balance interests

Many of the properties are located near village centres, often with a relatively large amount of highly productive land. This provides a good basis for forest production, while also creating interest in converting land for various types of development.

This location means that it can often be particularly important to balance the interests of traditional forestry against other user interests or forms of utilisation. The company has its own forest managers with local knowledge of Allstad's areas.

Sustainable forestry

Allstad's forests are managed in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner, with good silviculture and adapted infrastructure. Preserving biodiversity is given high priority, and this is achieved by carrying out activities within the framework established both by applicable regulations and by the Norwegian PEFC Forest Standard for sustainable forestry. Allstad has 10 local forest managers spread throughout the country.

Efforts to reduce negative impacts on the environment are quality-assured through environmental certification based on the ISO 14001 standards. Special environmental values in the company's forests are to be registered and protected. Such registrations have been carried out for much of the area, either as key habitat registrations or as MiS registrations (Environment in Forests) in freshwater. Around 12–13% of the properties are protected as nature reserves, national parks, landscape protection areas, key habitats, etc.

Cabins and mountain pasture huts, hunting and fishing

Allstad leases out hunting and fishing rights on the company's forest and outlying properties. This includes big game hunting, small game hunting, salmon fishing and other freshwater fishing. In addition, Allstad has approximately 70 huts and cabins for rent. The vast majority are leased on long-term contracts.

Allstad also leases out mountain pasture huts and summer farmhouses as part of its management activities. In total, this amounts to 10–15 rental properties. Most are currently leased on long-term contracts.

Approximately 90 hunting, fishing and cabin rights are leased to local hunters' and anglers' associations, landowners' associations or equivalent organisations.
