Olavsrosa for Granavolden Hotel & Gjæstgiveri

Wednesday, June 11 was both a festive day and a summer day at Granavolden. The guesthouse by the sister churches was awarded Olavsrosa, a quality mark and a hallmark of high standards when it comes to communicating and providing experiences of cultural history. Jørn Holme, Chair of Norsk Kulturarv and former Director-General of the Directorate for Cultural Heritage, presented the shield, and the Mayor of Gran added uplifting words about how important Granavollen had been as a meeting place, workplace, apprenticeship venue, and not least what it has meant for local development in recent years. Earlier this year, the hotel received the award for Collaboration Hotel of the Year and is already part of De Historiske Hotel & Spisesteder, ensuring high quality and authentic experiences.

Allstad has made major investments during the 15 years since the old guesthouse was purchased in 2010, at that time under our former name, Opplysningsvesenets fond. The latest news from the site is that the County Conservator has granted an exemption from the preservation regulations for the southern building, which means that seven newly created rooms will have bathrooms, and some will even have bathtubs. From now on, it will be possible to book 50 fine rooms–several with a sense of history. Together with Granavolden Hotel and Gjæstgiveri, we are proud and pleased with the recognition—and with the attention.
