Gregerstua is the oldest building at Granavolden Guesthouse. Beer was brewed here, accommodation was provided, and it housed the local court where legal cases were presented.

It was the sheriff, transport provider and innkeeper Gregers Granavolden (1677–1746) who made the place at “Granavøll” known beyond its own borders when, during the Great Northern War, he mobilized 50 people from Hadeland to fight the Swedes through Harestuskogen. This was of great importance for the subsequent course of the war in Norway’s favor. Gregers wrote with pen and ink to the Danish king and told him about his efforts and exploits, as well as about the buildings at the inn that he had restored. The historic letter, in the style of the 18th century, is today a treasured artifact and is archived at the National Archives.
