OVF - collaboration with the National Jubilee “Norway in a Thousand Years”

OVF is collaborating with the National Jubilee “Norway in a Thousand Years”. We are making a relevant vicarage available where young people will gather for a workshop on artistic expression and an exchange of views on society and the future. The national network for the jubilee recently gathered at Eidsvoll, where, among others, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon was present.

The Youth’s War Arrow was first carried out by Innlandet County Municipality and Sør-Fron Municipality in connection with the first year of the jubilee relay: Hundorp 2021. The project was titled The Youth’s War Arrow and was based on the following excerpt from Snorri:
«When Dale-Gudbrand hears that King Olav Haraldsson is on his way down the valley, “he carved a war arrow and summoned all the valley’s farmers to meet him at the farm called Hundorp”.

Despite the project’s warlike title, it had an appealing factor that made young people curious, and participation was high. Although conflicts were resolved through violence a thousand years ago, the concept of the war arrow provides an opportunity to address the fact that, in today’s society, we must solve problems through conversation and dialogue. The concept of the war arrow is also a way of saying that this is a conversation in which it is important for society that people participate. We therefore wish to build on the concept and use The Youth’s War Arrow as the title of the project.

Both Stiklestad National Cultural Centre (SNK), Innlandet County Municipality, Våler in 1000 Years, Eidsvoll 1814, Nansen Peace Centre and the Norwegian Church Endowment (OVF) are collaborating on the project and will gather young people at Våler Vicarage in November. The aim is to develop a channel for the voice of young people in the National Jubilee 2030.
