Vicarage with a New Profile
The vicarage has housed successive priests since 1912 and served as a home. Now, the old official residence has opened its doors to other uses, including cultural events of various kinds, while also becoming a new home for a valuable art collection. The people of Kolvereid have turned out in large numbers to support the local painting collection, which has been displayed on the walls from floor to ceiling across two full floors.
In late summer and autumn, there have been both sales exhibitions and cultural evenings, and the large garden has proved well suited as an open-air venue for audiences.
The lease agreement with the municipality states that the vicarage is to be developed as a museum for the local art collection and as a cultural meeting place. The building itself has undergone important upgrades, with the conservatory rebuilt in accordance with new regulations. The historical drawings supplied by the architect and Trønder Georg Arentz more than a hundred years ago, and preserved in OVF's archives, have been followed and have served as an important guiding principle. A new and promising chapter, entering a new era, has begun for the vicarage in northern Trøndelag.
Georg Arentz was responsible for both Selbu and Meldal vicarages. They feature the distinctive characteristics of an official residence, including several reception rooms along the facade and fine architectural details.
