In the autumn of 2020, the former Hommedal rectory was leased from OVF to provide an alternative educational programme for young people. Read more about the school here.

The research findings indicate that the vast majority of students who attend the programme one day a week are very satisfied; they look forward to this day, experience a sense of achievement and make new friends. The parents are also satisfied, and several of them have observed a number of positive changes in their child at home; for example, the child is happier, shares more, has developed new interests and friendships, and is generally more motivated. Although the findings are not unequivocal, several school employees report positive effects for their students both at the school farm and at their regular school on the other days. The programme at Hommedal School Farm has worked well from day one and has also succeeded in further developing the programme based on experience from its first year of operation. Continuous further development with strong user participation from students, parents and cooperating schools will be central to the work ahead. The overall purpose of the programme is to meet the need for adapted education for a smaller group of students who have a particular need for it, and in this way help prevent future school dropout by supporting these students in close dialogue with their parents.
